Probably as good a time as any to recount the birthing of young Maisie. Unlike Astrid, who had Melynn in bed for 6 days with her feet in the air and a horrible IV of magnesium, Maisie confounded everyone by not only showing up five weeks early, but by having one of the quickest deliveries in Hoag history. About 20 minutes after the OB left, figuring to come back in a few hours because Melynn was only at 3 cm., she arrived and was delivered (actually, just caught) by the perinatologist standing by, Dr. Asrat. The nurses were still talking about it in the elevator 2 days later.
Maisie and Astrid, together at last!

Maisie is here!
Maisie arrive on April 23, five weeks early and a little on the light side, but healthy and happy. Astrid was thrilled to finally meet her little sister. It was another interesting delivery, probably one of the fastest in Hoag hospital history. We were checked in for less than an hour before the parentologist had to deliver, as the OB didn't get there in time. But, unlike Astrid, no trip to the NICU was required. Everyone is home and resting (except me).
